As we approach the season of Lent (which starts on Ash Wednesday, February 17) we are continuing to find ways of worshipping together even as we practice safe social distancing. This year, we are excited to offer an interactive journey through the season of Lent. Designed for all ages and stages of life, Lent In a Bag is just that: a bag that will be provided to you and will contain devotions, activities, and symbols of the season.
In your bag you’ll find a wooden cube bearing thought-provoking symbols and scriptures, a palm cross, an activity booklet, marshmallows with a recipe that depicts the Easter story—have we piqued your interest yet? In addition, you will be given an opportunity to support Family Promise of the Midlands by gathering cash and coins in a personal collection box; these funds will go towards helping a family during Trinity’s designated sponsorship week from February 7-14. Lent in a Bag will make the season more meaningful and instructional for every member of your household and will go a long ways towards helping those in our community.
One of the primary reasons that Trinity is providing Lent in a Bag for every household in our church is so that we as congregation can feel connected with one another at a time when we haven’t been physically together.
Who should get Lent In a Bag as we journey through Lent toward Easter?
You should if you are:
- Single
- Married
- A young family
- Someone who is in assisted living
- A teenager or young adult
- Retired
- An older or younger child
- Living by yourself or with other people
In other words, we want everyone that is part of our Trinity family to participate in this meaningful experience during Lent!
