Ice Cream Social for Rising 6th Graders

May 20, 2021

Hello!

Congratulations to all of you with 5th grade graduations coming up! It’s a bittersweet time of transition, excitement and apprehension of what’s to come. As Youth Director, I like to meet with the rising 6th graders by themselves. It gives me time to get to know them and them a chance to get to know me. I also want to hear their thoughts, questions and even concerns about moving into participating in the youth ministry program.

To create a time for us to meet each other, I’ll be hosting an ice cream social on June 9 from 7:00-8:00pm. Students won’t need to do anything besides just show up! We will play some games, make ice cream sundaes, and chat about youth group. We will meet in the youth building or Parks Place depending on the weather. Parents are more than welcome to attend! In fact, to meet our Safe Sanctuary standards, I am looking for one other adult to be present during the event. Please, let me know if you can help me out.

If your student is unable to attend, I can always catch them at another time. I am available by phone (803) 786-1637 at the church or my cell number (803) 348-9559 for text or call. There are some ways that you can also be in-the-know regarding what’s going on with Trinity Student Ministry. Follow our youth Instagram, @abidetrinityumc, and Facebook Page: Abide Youth Ministry. We also have a Band app that is just for youth and their families. (Email Peter Underhill at punderhill@trinityblythewood.com and ask to be invited to the group). Additionally, you can always find information on the Abide website, in the monthly newsletter, weekly update email, or in the bulletin.

I look forward to getting to know your student and your family better. I am always available and eager to hear your ideas, questions, or concerns. My goal is to make Trinity Student Ministries an excellent experience for our youth and a ministry that honors God in all we do.
