The grief and loss group, co-led by Don and Betty Hillyard, resumed in-person sessions at The Stone House from 5:00-6:15pm, meeting every two weeks, using the insightful book, The Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief by Francis Weller.
To register or inquire about the schedule, email betty.hillyard@nfp.com or text (516) 633-0901. The cost for the book is $15. New attendees are welcome at any time.
Weller reveals the new vitality we encounter when we welcome, rather than fear, the pain of loss. Those who work with people in grief, who have experienced the loss of a loved one, who mourn the ongoing destruction of our planet, or who suffer the accumulated traumas of a lifetime will appreciate the transformative insights presented here through story and poetry. Weller highlights the intimate bond between grief and gratitude, sorrow and intimacy. He shows us that the greatest gifts are often hidden in the things we avoid and offers powerful tools and rituals to help us transform grief into a force that allows us to live and love more fully.
“Weller guides us into the difficult geography of sorrow and helps us find our way back to our souls. He brings much needed medicine to a culture that relies upon distraction and anesthesia to cope with the daily losses that surround us.” –Malidoma Somé, author.
