2023 Nominations Procedure

September 6, 2023

The Procedure – Nomination, Qualification, Election

From today through the end of September, the Lay Leadership Team will be accepting nominations for church leadership. It is important that anyone wishing to make a nomination for office and those accepting nominations read this document in its entirety. The process or procedure for the election of officers includes a series of steps: Nomination, Qualification, and finally Election.

Nomination forms can be found by clicking the button below or by filling out the nomination slips on the lobby tables in both services or at the Welcome Center and returning the slips to the offering plate, offering box, or to the basket in the Welcome Center. Please start by first reading the process and qualifications listed below.

The first step is NOMINATION. Any member of the congregation may submit a name for nomination to church leadership. The nominating period is to allow the congregation to prayerfully consider whether there may indeed be persons who have exhibited the qualifications for a given office and thus should be nominated to serve. The first step is for you to review the qualifications for each leadership position as set forth in The Book Of Discipline.

After the period of nominations is completed there will be an extended time for the QUALIFICATION of those nominated. The Lay Leadership Team will meet to review and pray over the names. Recommendations will be made and submitted for Charge Conference. Being nominated for leadership is no guarantee of election and it is no shame to recognize you are not called to serve. We each have our own unique and important role in the body of Christ.

The final action in the process is the ELECTION of church leadership. The election will take place at Charge Conference. A simple majority elects officers. Those persons elected will be notified and a church leadership roster for the upcoming year will be created.
