Who We Are
Trinity United Methodist Church is a fellowship of diverse believers united by our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We exist to make and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ through inspiring worship, transforming Bible study, and compassionate outreach. We strive to be a caring community of open hearts, open minds, and open doors where all may experience the love of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit. We commit ourselves through prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness so that God will use us to transform our community and the world.
What We Believe
Our number one belief is Love. We believe that God the Father loves his creation. We believe Jesus, His son, loved us so much that He died to defeat our sin and rose again to remove death for those who believe. We believe the Holy Spirit dwells in believers and helps us to expand our love for God and everyone else.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Trinity UMC is first and foremost a community united around Jesus Christ. We are traditional and contemporary, liberal and conservative, young and old, believers and skeptics, wealthy and poor, talkative and quiet. Ultimately, we find our unity and love for one another in our pursuit of knowledge of the Divine. Also, most of us are Methodist in theology, but don’t feel like you need to be Methodist in order to join us in celebrating the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Church Covenant
As a congregation and staff team, we will be uncompromising in our commitment to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, to the overarching vision of the church and to these core values:
Developing as Disciples – Lead, Don’t Point
Trinity will lead the way as followers of Jesus whose life is centered on loving God and loving others.
Trinity will personally commit to the seven practices that lead to faith growth: Prayer, Scriptural Meditation, Corporate Worship, Small Group Communities, Gifts-based service, Financial Generosity, and Invitational Evangelism (Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service and Witness).
Trinity will engage in faith-building activities as a staff and congregation (e.g. studies, Scripture reading and serving together).
Trinity will practice integrity and truth-telling.
Trinity will model forgiveness and reconciliation in the way of Jesus.
Trinity will practice and encourage each other in maintaining a healthy rhythm of work and rest.
Team-ing – We is Greater than Me
Trinity will strive to create and sustain an atmosphere of faith and love.
Trinity will encourage and support one another through good times and bad times.
Trinity will speak TO each other and not ABOUT each other.
Trinity will choose to believe the best instead of assuming the worst when there is a gap of information.
Trinity will speak the truth in love to each other in a timely way with the goal of securing the health of our relationships.
Trinity will always value the whole over the parts knowing that we are better together.
Trinity will strive to leverage conflict well by encouraging conflict around ideas and swiftly addressing conflict around personalities.
Trinity will all hold each other accountable to our covenant, regardless of position.
Trinity will work hard and play hard.
Serving Well – Keep an Eye to the Why
Trinity will remember our purpose and do everything to the glory of God.
Trinity will strive for excellence in all that we do.
Trinity will seek out and share insights from professional development opportunities.
Trinity will learn by taking risks and not being afraid of failure.
Trinity will be fully engaged in our ministry areas and the life of the whole congregation.
