I am pleased to invite your student to participate in our 2022-2023 Confirmation experience at Trinity United Methodist Church. I hope you will take a few minutes to talk with your student about this opportunity, and if she/he is interested, complete the registration/interest form (via the link below) by November 4.
Confirmation marks the first time a baptized Christian publicly “confirms” their intention to live the vows of the baptismal and membership covenant and so becomes a professing member of the local congregation and The United Methodist Church. Confirmation is intended to help them explore the Christian faith and make for themselves the decision to be a disciple of Christ. Students will learn about Church history, scripture, and how United Methodists worship and serve around the world. This allows our students to take hold of their own faith journey. Classes will be taught by Senior Pastor Scott Smoak, Assoc. Pastor Carsten Bryant, Youth Director Bonnie Riley and other persons with specific knowledge in the area being taught.
We will begin the Confirmation journey on October 30, meeting every week during Connection Time – Sunday mornings at 10:15am – in the Middle School room (204) in the Youth Building. We will have a weekend retreat in the later part of March and celebrate with Confirmation services on May 7.
There will be a level of commitment that will need to be made to be confirmed.
- Students who want to be confirmed in May 2023 will need to attend 90% of the classes. For holiday weekends, such as those around school days off, we will have a lesson that is not part of the required curriculum.
- We ask each confirmand to participate in service opportunities at Trinity (ushering, helping teach, etc.), by attending special services such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Service of the Nails, and others.
- Students must participate in at least 1 mission opportunity offered by our Youth Group or church.
Please, click here to fill out the Google form, so we know how many to expect. If there are any questions, thoughts, or concerns, please reach out to Bonnie Riley, Youth Director, at briley@trinityblythewood.com.
